Current Events Calendar

The events and months listed below are subject to change each year but we typically attend these outreach events so check the calendar for the most up-to-date information. You can request an outreach program on our Outreach Programs page.

NCHS Spring Meeting:  Usually occurs in April/May and rotates around the state within the mountains, sandhills, and coastal plain regions.  This meeting usually has a theme or is a joint meeting with other likeminded organizations.

NCHS Annual Meeting: 1st weekend in November and usually held in Raleigh on NC  State University’s campus.

March

Dixie Deer Classic:  A family-friendly event held at the Raleigh Fairgrounds for hunters and we have a snakes education booth.

Reptile and Amphibian Day: The nation’s largest and most popular event dedicated to hopping, slithering, crawling critters held at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.

April

NEW 2024 Backyard Snakes: Learn how to identify a copperhead and other native snakes at two events this year.

May

Wild About Nature: An afternoon of celebrating and learning about nature at Sugg Farm at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs.

Longleaf Pine Festival: A celebration of the longleaf pine ecosystem and the unique animals that live there.  Harris Lake County Park, New Hill.

July

Festival for the Eno:  Festival that raises money and awareness for the Eno River and the surrounding land.  West Point on the Eno, Durham.

Sept

National Hunting and Fishing Day:  A day to enjoy learning about hunting and fishing and conservation.  Statewide in NC but we usually have booths in Raleigh and Fayetteville.
